Photographing pets isn't always straightforward (some seem natural models while others refuse to cooperate).
So here are some DOs and DON'Ts to try and help you get the best photos of your pets so I can create the best painting possible.
Angle-wise face on or 3/4 are great angles to create paintings from and always take photos at your pet's eye level. It also usually best to save and send images as JPEG/JPG files or PNG as these are smaller file sizes and faster to send than other file types.
DO
Take reasonably large photographs (to capture as much detail as possible)
Take a few photos to capture your pet's personality and appearance. (Note: I will most likely focus on one photo for the painting so please indicate if you have a favourite)
Make sure your photos are in focus! (Very important so I can put in the details)
Take photographs at eye-level with your pet (to keep a natural-looking and more attractive angle)
Use bribery! (Treats can work as a great incentive to keep and direct your pet's attention, toys too)
Upload your photos and check them to see how good they are in case you need to take more
For sketches, as this are grey-scale, a good contrast between light and dark areas will make for a more effective portrait
DON'T
Use Flash (as it tends to create an unnatural lighting and red-eye)
Take photos in dark or dim areas as this will lead to blurred images
Take photographs looking down at your pet (this isn't a good angle and makes for an 'unnatural looking' portrait)
